Some of us prefer to read books, some prefer to research on the internet, and others, like me, prefer a combination of tools.  I’ve prepared a list of resources that I consider to be most helpful in both categories.  Enjoy!

What Color is Your Parachute 2010 By Richard N. Bolles:  the best selling job hunting book in the world, updated to today’s job market.

Me 2.0 by Dan Schawbel:  how to build a powerful brand to achieve career success; how to manage your online image to find employment

Free Agent Nation by Daniel H. Pink:  explains the major shift in employment from the days of  the”organizational man” to today’s independent contractor.

Escape from Cubicle Nation by Pamela Slim:  provides everything you’ll need to consider making the change from corporate employment to entrepreneur, from the nuts and bolts to the emotional aspects.

Occupational Outlook Handbook 2010-2011:  The Department of Labor’s comprehensive guide; includes job search, information on education and training, tomorrow’s jobs and information for the next 10 years

Job-Hunting Online by Mark Emery Bolles and Richard Nelson Bolles:  a guide to message boards, joblistings, research sites, the underweb, counseling, networking, self-assessment tools, and niche sites.

Do What You Are by Paul D. Tieger and Barbara Barron:  an overview of the best careers for the 16 different MBTI personality types.
